Many Faiths, One Nation: our vision for Malaysia

Resolution taken at our 30th Annual General Meeting

Press Release – 12 September 2012

It has been brought to the attention of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) that religious places and people who go to such places for regular worship have become targets of crime attacks. This reflects the sad reality of the growing deterioration of crime and corruption in the country.
We, the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) note that:-

– Corruption and Crime has deteriorated at an alarming rate in our country,

– While macro indices like Corruption Perception Index, illegal outflow of funds reflect the downward slide, however day-to-day life experiences of ordinary citizens confirm that Corruption, in its many forms, has become more of an accepted culture among both the ‘takers’ and the ‘givers’,

– Crime rates, in spite of successful KPI achievements and assurances from our leaders does not leave the impression that Crime trend has abated. On the contrary, spates of kidnapping, theft and white collar Crimes appear to be brazen and not isolated, as claimed by the Home Minister
MCCBCHST hereby resolves that it will continuously urge its faithful and all citizens who cherish a better quality of life to take a more active role in combating these cancerous trends.

MCCBCHST further resolves that it will urge the government in power to show more visible and tangible results in these areas so that every citizen can confidently say that we have a living environment that is visibly free from Crime and Corruption.
